Our Story
On Good Friday, April 2, 2010, the first Quincy Way of the Cross set forth for the first time. It was a prayerful journey to all seven of the Quincy Catholic Churches, praying two stations of the Cross in each Church. Like today, we began at Sacred Heart in North Quincy and continued throughout Quincy to Hough's Neck.
In the photo to the right, Christy Las stands proudly with her son, Jose and her husband, Ruell Las (in the gray hoodie). Christy, although by then ill with cancer, persevered through a day of walking and prayer, visiting every Church. In later years, she made the trip by car, too weak to walk. We remember Christy each year, and we know that she walks with us yet.
After a couple of years, we merged with the group carrying the cross on the left in the picture above.
Our walk is a way to spend Good Friday in a journey to recall the steps of Jesus and to spend time in the Churches dear to us. We would love to have you join us this year!
